◆ The developing history of motorcycle
①. In 1790, A French called Siporla installed two wheels to a wooden horse, on which people could ride and move around by trampling the floor
②. In 1839, Kemile installed two pedals on both side of the front wheel, on which people can ride and achieve short movements with their feet on it;;
③. In 1860, a Frenchman called Michaux installed pedals with a brace on the front wheel, on which people can drive with their feet to move the pedals;
④. In 1869, Michaux installed one small steam engine on the bicycle which became the earliest motor vehicle driven by steam engine;
⑤. German, Gottlieb Daimler invented the first gas-engine, one-cylinder and wind-cool motorcycle with the exhaust amount of 264ml in 1885, on the basis of improvement of Otto’s engine invented in 1876. That marked the moment in history when the dual development of a viable gas-powered engine and the modern bicycle collided.
⑥. In 1894, Hertmalek and Woolwen invented a motorcycle with two wheels, two cylinders and four strokes. The exhaust amount of it was 1488ml and the power was 1.8kw. The motorcycle did not have gear-shift system and inertia wheel. This type of motorcycle was the first one which was put into amount production;
⑦. In the late 19th and early 20th, the technology of motorcycle had achieved great development, which made the structure of the engine developed from single vertical cylinder to 4-cylinder vertical and 2-cylinder horizontal etc. The front and rear wheels were equipped with front fork and rear shock absorber, with skid-proof embossing rubber tires and axial driving etc
⑧. In 1914, the First World War broke out. Many countries produced motorcycles for military use in the war, which large promoted the technology of producing motorcycles. In the 1950s, the main technologies innovation were: installation of hydraulic shock absorber in the front fork, rear hanging system, applying of speed reducing gear box, reduction of the weight and emphasizing of appearance design
⑨. Since 1960s, the center for developing motorcycle had transferred from Europe to Japan. After absorbing the European technology, the Japanese motorcycle industry had formed 4 tycoons: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki. They became the leaders on motorcycle performance, production technology and R&D. The main countries manufacturing motorcycles are; Japan, China, U.S., Italy, France, Germany, Spain, India, Czechoslovakia and Austria etc.
⑩. The domestic motorcycle industry had achieved great development since the establishment of the People's Republic of China. In 1951, the first batch of "Jinggangshan" brand motorcycle was produced for the military use, in 1957, the Xiangjiang Machine Factory cooperated with Hongdu Machine Factory and invented the "Changjiang 750" motorcycle; in 1958, Beijing Motorcycle Factory invented 250ml 2-stroke motorcycle, which was produced by the Shanghai Motorcycle Factory and renamed as "Xingfu250"; in 1964, Jinan Qinqi Motorcycle Factory started to produce "Qinqi 15" motorcycle. Currently, the motorcycle output in China ranks the first in the world.
